DOMINICAN REPUBLIC | ESPAILLAT

Espaillat  is one of most productive provinces of the Dominican Republic, it’s located at the northen part of the country, Espaillat Province, honors the memory of Ulises Francisco Espaillat, considered one of the most honest politicians and guileless, and who was president of the country in 1876.

Cities, towns and villages of Espaillat Province

The province is located in the north central region, part of the Cibao. Its area is 839 km2. For its dimension is the 28th province of the country, its size is equivalent to 1.7 percent of the national territory, its coordinates are: 16th 30 ‘north latitude and 70 o 27’ west longitude. It is bordered to the north by the Atlantic Ocean: the south, with the province of La Vega; east with the province Hermanas Mirabal; and west, with the provinces of Santiago and Puerto Plata province.

In the eighth national census of 2002 Census Bureau reports the Espaillat Province with 225,000 inhabitants, these men and women have 65.531 66.202. The population density is 268.4 inhabitants per km2.

The geography of the Espaillat province is varied becoming quite mountainous in the north by a section of the northern mountain range that passes under their jurisdiction the highest peak is the wooded hill 996 meters high, in the south is fairly flat because it occupies part of the northern portion of the Cibao valley, Espaillat province has many rivers being one of the most prominent river in this river Jamao recently is implemented ecotourism also has several beaches, which are great tourist taste.
